Kamei Sushi originated in Tsukiji, Japan over 150 years ago, where it was known as the largest fish market in the world from 1657. Unlike the fake made-up KAMON we see other Japanese brands hanging on their doorstep, Kamei Royale’s 5 petal flower Kamon is a true and traditional marking we have had over centuries.

1956 was the day we first opened our business under Vancouver Holdings Ltd. The City of Vancouver gave the logo to the left to those who have successfully operated the business for over 50 years in Vancouver.
In 1972, we officially opened our restaurant in Vancouver and became the primary influencer in spreading Japanese cuisine and culture. We have brought hundreds of chefs from Japan and become the biggest contributor in offering Japanese jobs, expanding the community to what we have today.

We are the pioneer of Japanese fusion cuisine in BC starting with inventing the BC Roll.
