2024 Christmas Donation To Children of BC

Christmas to Vancouver Children!

December 31, 2024

Dear wonderful guests, we hope you enjoyed the year’s most exciting day. Kamei staff also enjoyed our staff party and precious time with our family and loved ones. But we did not forget our annual contribution to the children in BC. We had two years of boxes and boxes of toys, and last year, we donated a ton of Blu-ray movies so that families can all gather and enjoy. What is for this year?

How about collections of comics!? Today, many children are departing away from paper media. But our admiration for exciting stories and heroes who come to save the day are always within our hearts. So we’ve decided to donate thousands of comic books! And I mean, not today’s woke comic with the wrong messaging that parents avoid their children from reading. We mean good, traditional, and straightforward stories where we can all learn and better ourselves.

These books are part of a collection from Kamei Royale manager Shingo Masuda. Yes, he has too much and too little time to open them. Everything that was donated is a special collector’s item. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be storing them in his weather-controlled storage.
We hope the economy will recover soon and life becomes better for everyone!

We have Turbo Baba Cat

We got Turbo Baba Cat

December 4, 2024

The mega-hit anime Dan Da Dan’s popular mascot character, Turbo Baba, has always been here at Kamei Royale. Yes, you heard us right. Whenever you came to Kamei Royale, you most likely saw the cat at our front entrance.

Turbo Baba, a haunting ghost that took over the body of a Maneki Neko statue, became an immediate icon of an anime character. Yes, it’s a statue, so it’s not supposed to animate like Tom and Jerry, but this is anime. Law of physics does not work the same.

And here she is! Our Kamei Maneki Neko! We have had her for over 50 years, so you can imagine how crucial she is to our business. Beside, Maneki Neko means “Attracting Cat” and it is meant to attract customers to your store. A lot of stores in Japan have this cat statue, and some stores in Canada display them. But I have never seen anything that can match our Maneki Neko size. I am sure this is the same Maneki Neko-size statue that Turbo Baba took over.

So if you are an anime fan, come by and take a photo with our Turbo Baba! But do not forget to pay respect. We Japanese believe that an object like Maneki Neko could be the home of a god or spirit who helps us pay respect. And you saw how angry Turbo Baba can be in Dan Da Dan. Don’t make her chase after you!
